Pokhara Airport to Lakeside Taxi: Fare, Distance & Tips

By Pokhara Vehicles ·

Most visitors to Pokhara land at the airport and head straight for Lakeside, the lively lakeshore neighbourhood where the hotels, restaurants and boat jetties are. The good news is that the ride is short, cheap and simple. This guide explains the distance, the realistic fare, where to find your driver and a few tips to make your arrival stress-free.

How far is Lakeside from Pokhara Airport?

Pokhara’s domestic airport sits right in the city, only about 3–5 km from Lakeside depending on which end of the strip your hotel is on. In normal traffic the drive takes just 10–15 minutes. The newer Pokhara Regional International Airport is a little further east, roughly 20–30 minutes from Lakeside.

Airport transfer quick facts

  • Distance: ~3–5 km (domestic airport) to Lakeside
  • Drive time: 10–15 minutes in normal traffic
  • Vehicle options: car/sedan for 1–3 people, SUV or Hiace van for groups with luggage
  • Indicative fare: from NPR 700 for a private car — ask for a quote for the international airport or a larger vehicle
  • Flight tracking: we watch your arrival and wait if the flight is delayed
  • Payment: agreed in advance, so there is no meter haggling on arrival

Where will I meet the driver?

Pokhara’s domestic terminal is small and easy to navigate. When you book a private transfer with us, your driver waits just outside the arrivals exit with a name board, helps with your bags and walks you to the vehicle. There is no queuing for a taxi and no negotiating a price after a long flight — the fare is fixed when you book.

Arriving on an international flight?

If you land at Pokhara Regional International Airport, tell us your flight number and we will meet you there instead. The drive to Lakeside is longer but still straightforward, and a pre-booked car means you skip the arrival scramble entirely.

Tips for a smooth arrival

  • Book ahead: a pre-arranged pickup removes the single most stressful moment of arriving in a new city.
  • Share your flight number: it lets us track delays so your driver is there when you actually land, not before.
  • Carry small notes: useful for tips and small purchases; you do not need them for the fare if it is pre-agreed.
  • Travelling with trekking gear? Ask for an SUV or van so bags ride comfortably.
  • Need an early or late transfer? We run airport pickups around the clock — just give us the time.

More than just the airport run

Many guests who book an airport pickup go on to use us for the rest of their stay — a Sarangkot sunrise the next morning, a full-day city tour, or onward travel to Kathmandu, Chitwan or a trailhead. Because we are local and family-run, it is easy to keep the same trusted driver for your whole trip rather than starting from scratch each time.
